October Beer Festival is now only a few weeks away!
As you all know by now it’s not just about the beer here at the Moon…
We have an amazing line up of local musicians and a new food vendor @foldmeclose joining us all 3 days.
Of course there will be 25+ real ales, changing keg beers over the weekend and 12+ real ciders to tantalise your tastebuds.
Our big stretch tent will be up by October to keep you all dry and warm! And we look forward to celebrating our 7 years at the Moon with you. (Our anniversary is the following weekend)

During summer, you'll often hear one of our local musicians playing in the garden; in winter, you'll see them inside propped on a bar stall creating the most intimate atmosphere.

Tucked behind our cosy pub, the large garden provides multiple seating areas, making it a great place to socialise, whatever the weather!

A little bit about us
A message from Freddy & Emily...
Having both grown up in Hitchin, we were so excited to have the opportunity to buy The Half Moon back in 2017, and take over this amazing pub that's become famous for its beer festivals! Since taking over our family has grown with the birth of our little boy in 2020. This pub is not just where we work but also our home and for this reason, is a very special place to us.
Formally known as the Newfound Inn it originally opened back in 1748. Since opening this old pub has changed a lot and has become a popular real ale pub, but one thing has always remained, our customers are everything to us and we are so proud to serve the local community of Hitchin.
